Mark Lanegan (solo & The Screaming Trees, Queens of the Stone Age)
Anthony Green (Circa Survive, old Saosin, The Sound of Animals Fighting)
Craig Owens (Chiodos, Cinematic Sunrise)
Daniel Nigro (As Tall As Lions)
Nate Ruess (The Format)

Dallas Green is the singer for Alexisonfire. There is a singer and screamer both in the band. He also has a solo album and I think a EP or two under the name City and Colour, which is more acoustic type stuff where as Alexisonfire is more post-hardcore.

He also used to be the lead singer for a band named Helicon Blue, which had some really good stuff. Not a lot of material though.

I'd recommened checking out the work he has done.

I'm d/l their self-titled right now. I'm in the middle of writing a gigantic biography right now (20 pages so far, and I'm only about 3/4 through) so I probably won't listen to it for a few days, but I'll give my thoughts when I get it.

These 2 are by far my favorites:

Chino Moreno (deftones)

Anthony Green (Circa Survive, old Saosin, The Sound of Animals Fighting)

Z-Ro (yes obviously he's a rapper but as far as any rapper, or "hook man" Z-Ro tops them all with his voice).

Np man, that's what I wanted this thread to be for. Find good singers you've never heard before. And Dallas is godlike so congrats on finding a good one haha.

Thanks for those Camby, been trying to find that Neverending White Lights song sor a month.

Can't believe I forgot Layne :/ Bradley Nowell too.
I dunno the guy from Dance Gavin Dance's name, but he's on my list. Sounding like Michael Jackson in a heavy post hXc band is genius. He looks like Budnick too hahaha.

I was going to say Kurt Cobain, but truth be told he wasn't a great singer, in the traditional sense that is. What was dope about Kurt was how his voice sounded and the emotion that could be felt in it.

So add him to mine as well then.

Bjork too.

Pretty cool Camby, not really my style but she's got a good voice.

And I dunno why I keep fucking forgetting about Morissey. Barely edges out David Byrnes as my favorite 80s singer. OH FUCK, and Danzig!!!

I think this turned more into favorite frontman/woman then singer thread. Because as much as I really like Talking Heads, like Cobain, Byrnes isn't that great of "singer" in the traditional sense. Amazing frontman and I love his whole voice and vibe. But like actually singing wise, I think you know what I mean.

Morrissey on the other hand, that guy can sing.

*edit*

By the way that new Portugal. The Man is fucking great RJ, good looking out. I like the direction they are going in.

Yeah hence why I didn't actually list Byrnes, was just saying he's my 2nd favorite from the 80s :p

Yeah Portugal's getting so fucking good, and their work ethic is insane.

All the singers I listed, in my mind, are great singers. Whether it be due to the emotion they flex in their voices (Aaron Lewis, Kurt, Layne) to just flat out talent (Sarah Brightman, Anthony Hamilton, K-Ci).

I also forgot Jaheim.
