favorite shooter?...and suggestions

have always been a big fan of shooters,especially side or vertical scrolling types. some of my favorites are:

raiden (arcade)
metal slug (arcade)
gunstar heroes (genesis)
cyber core (turbo graphx)
gunbird 2 (dreamcast)
gradius series
r-type series

has there ever been a good shooter released on ps2? or any other suggestion of good ones i should check out regardless of system?
