I don't usually say this to you......but you don't know what you're talking about.

There's a difference between Artist/Label Mixtapes, and DJ Mixtapes--one is almost exclusively confined to one single artist or label, almost always composed of nothing but jacked beats........the other is a complete mix of everything, mostly just new singles and other exclusive tracks.

This thread is about the latter.



As for the question, No, i don't know of any. I've seen some out there that have half Jay-Z/TI/etc... and half Local Music. No thanks. All or nothing for me.

Mixtapes are far from dead and I suggest if your not bout to get heavy radio play or have a coo internet buzz not to put out a album. Albums cost money 5,000-to who knows. You put together a coo mixtape for about 2000-3000 including the dj. If it fails it fails it fails. A failed mixtape will let you know your not ready to do an album.

Topspins' mixtape was dope. DV one put out a pretty dope mix a while back it was a 20 min jump off. Not many dj's are releasing mixtapes nowadays due to the fact that most people just rip em and post em up online. Many of my good friends have decided to just post em up (thier own mixtapes) for free that way you can drop mixes with the quickness if you want.

I don't know if this came out in 08 but the Twin-G charity project is pretty dope, some cat gave it to me on the Greyhound. It's got a bunch of "c-sides" as well as mixtape tracks, pretty solid cd if you ask me. Got to hear a newer D-sane verse an everything.
