There is a small private school near where I live where I go to run several times a week. When I am running, their flag football team is practicing. Not only do I think it is pathetic, it is comical. I watch them seriously doing the same drills I used to do in high school, like lying down on your back head-to-head and the coach blowing the whistle and you have to get up as quickly as possible and try to drive the other guy back.
Now I'm all for education taking precedent over sports, and I myself went to a private high school. But if I was faced with the dilemma of either sending my child to a private school with a reputation for excellent academics but they only have fag football or a public school with a reputation for crappy academics, drugs, gangs, etc. but they have actual full-contact football, I would have to send my child to the public school because you only get to play high school football for four years of your life and no one should be deprived of that. They could still get a decent education, I would just have to work a little harder to make sure my child was not getting caught up in all of the distractions.
Sorry, it's just something I had to comment on.
