American film-maker David Fincher (Seven, Fight Club) is in talks to direct a movie based on the rise of social networking website Facebook, for which renowned TV series writer Aaron Sorkin has already penned a script.

AFP - Oscar-nominated film-maker David Fincher in talks to direct a Hollywood movie based on the rise of social networking website Facebook, it was reported Wednesday.

Fincher, who earned an Oscar nod for his period romance "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" earlier this year, is in advanced negotiations with Columbia Pictures over the possible movie, Daily Variety reported.

The report said a script for the film -- "The Social Network" -- has been written by Aaron Sorkin, best known for television series "The West Wing" and movies including "Charlie Wilson's War" and "A Few Good Men."

Variety reported that the Facebook movie would focus on the evolution of the website from its creation in 2004 by student Mark Zuckerberg into a global phenomenon with more than 200 million members.

Fincher's other film credits include dark crime thriller "Seven," "Fight Club," and "Zodiac."

I think if there's interesting happenings during the timeframe like naked women, some back-stabbing, etc...it could be an OK watch.
Pretty sure there's going to be a lot of both in the movie.

I think the script is based on the book The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook A Tale of Sex, Money, Genius and Betrayal, and I think the author is the same guy who wrote the book the movie 21 is based on. I heard the author talking about the book on The Jim Rome Show, and it sounds like he takes the facts but adds something to it to make the story more interesting. I think he did the same thing with 21. His description of the book made me want to read it, but I never got around to it.
