Chute Boxe coach Master Rafael Cordeiro has confirmed that Fabricio Werdum has officially joined the team.
“He is a heavy fighter, very strong and big and can be very fast as well. I am sure that this new partnership will give us more and more happiness,” stated Cordeiro.
Coming off of a loss by unanimous decision to Andre Arlovski at UFC 70, where neither fighter fully engaged, Werdum is likely looking to add some of the aggressiveness to his game that Chute Boxe fighters are known for.
Werdum now lives in Porto Alegre, a city in the south of Brazil, which is about a 45-minute plane ride from Curitiba, where Chute Boxe is located.
According to Cordeiro, Werdum will be traveling regularly to Curitiba to train. “Fabricio will stay with us from Monday to Friday training and he will spend the weekend with his pregnant wife in Porto Alegre, then he comes back to Curitiba again to start over again Monday morning.
Werdum’s professional record currently stands at 9-3-1. He is ranked as the #9 heavyweight fighter in the MMAWeekly World MMA Rankings.
