this is one of the downfalls of a 24 hour sport station. like other entertainment channels, they have unimportant people discussing unimportant topics just to CREATE drama. they thrive on it.

I was listenin to Mike and Mike on ESPN in the morning and they had some guest host named Eric Usilius(sp?) and I couldn't believe he said they should take Gore out of the Pro Bowl to put in Brian Westbrook. That is the first numnuts I ever heard say that shit. The difference between Gore and Westbrook is big. Yeah Westbrook is great at catchin and scorin TDs but at the end of the game when you need that powerful back to pound and pound the ball to run down the clock Westbrook can't do it, and its been provin. I had to get that off my chest, but yeah I feel you someone on this network always got somethin stupid to say. I think the dumbest thing said yet that I could remember was Skip Bayless was swearin up and down that the 9ers were gonna pick Lendale White with the 6th pick in this last draft. I couldn't believe he was allowed on TV after that prediction, idiot. Just like one of yall said though unimportant people discussin unimportant topics tryin to create some drama outta nuttin.

I have a question. I don't follow sports much anymore (except hockey and occasionally baseball), but do you think all these sports "characters" are "created" by the media, or do you think players' actions are really that controversial. Like someone said, these stations seem to thrive on player drama and it leads me to believe that they perpetuate the drama for their own gain.

Do you guys notice the same thing, or do you think it lies solely on the player and the stations are just reacting? Or a combination? It seems like a player would do something, the stations look at it and say, "hmm..can we go somewhere with this?" and if it's worthy of gossip they run the story.

Like I said, I don't watch these stations much anymore so these are just what I gather from stopping on the station for a minute of two. To those that follow this stuff, what's your take on the media's coverage of sports/sports drama?

Almost all media is the same, and Sports media is no different. The number one goal is to make money and sell their product, and they've proven that they'll do anything it takes.
