2007 has been a great year in boxing so I don't think it's that hard at all. I watched that last UFC card and it was a sleeeeeeeeper. I haven't really seen a highly entertaining UFC fight this year...

It's apples and oranges though, two different sports.

I still like Couture though. He's the Bernard Hopkins of MMA...except older!!

I really can't think of any great boxing fights this year. They've all been dissapointing in the end... Especially Floyd/Oscar. Too much dancing.

The only thing Merchant has ever been right about.. Well, he's been right about other things, but he's a douchebag, is that they need to make the ring smaller so there'll be less dancing and more fighting.

2-0-SIXX I SUPPORT BOXING AS MUCH AS ANYBODY BUT OFF TOP THE AVERAGE UFC FIGHT WILL ALWAYS BE MORE ENTERTAINING THEN THE AVERAGE BOXING MATCH. ITS TRUE YOU NEED TO BE MORE SKILLED TO BE A BOXER BUT BOXERS DONT BRAWL ENOUGH THESE DAYS, I THINK THE POINT SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE SWITCHED UP A LITTLE SO THAT BOXERS CANT HIT AND RUN.

Marquez/Vazquez I, II
Miranda/Pavlik
Cotto/Judah
Barrera vs JMM
Katsidis/Amonsat
Katsidis/Earl
Williams/Margarito

so there'll be less dancing and more fighting.
It all depends on the fighter (just like in MMA). Boxing is about matchups - you want to watch a brawl - don't watch Mayweather or Hopkins, who are best known for their defense. Same thing with MMA - you want to watch a brawl or see a KO - don't watch two technical grapplers.

See this is where you got to agree that it's completely personal preference because I see it as the opposite. MMA usually is boring to me - always ends of on the ground. Other will say the same about boxing. MMA, to me, is all about the KO's and that's it. As far as entertainment - for me, I'll take a good boxing match over a great MMA fight any day.

BOXERS DONT BRAWL ENOUGH THESE DAYS
Like I said above it's all about he fighter you're watching. Most people that have seen Floyd Mayweather fight KNEW b4 the fight what kind of fight he was going to bring. Same with Bernard Hopkins/Winky Wright. But, if you're a fan of Edison Miranda and Pavlik - everyone knew it was going to be a brawl, and it was. Same with Marquez/Vazquez or any Pacquiao fight.

Just like in MMA, there are different style fighters in boxing - Brawler/Slugger, dancers, heavy punchers, Boxer-Puncher, etc.

Good points 06... I agree with you. Them MMA matches are boring to me because of all the grappling and wrestling.

I appreciate the way Floyd boxes and breaks down his opponents. He has a defensive style first... why get hit and beat up if you don't have to?

I think this is the same thing as hardcore MMA fans that admire/appreciate the all the technical work from grapplers. Some people see that shit as boring, and two men rolling around on the ground, others see it as extreme skill. As with boxing, some people see floyd as a runner/dancer, others see him as a great defensive fighter, picks apart his opponents, etc.

Personal preference.

The two sports don't need to compete, they can exist together. One doesn't have to be better than the other because they are two different sports and people tend to forget that.

Some people will like MMA more, others boxing, other people don't give a fuck and just want to see a fight.

Good shit 2-0-Sixx. I agree with your posts 100% in that extreme fans of each sport will see the technicality of whats going on and appreciate it more than the average fan of either sport.
