How many of you guys use an Electric Piano as a substitute for an electric guitar? I've been doing this with my Lounge Lizard VSTi and d@mn the results have been amazing. Works wonders for funky $hit if you throw in some Wah and Distortion effect. Lounge Lizard actually has some really nice built-in FX for this. Give it a try if you haven't already and if your looking for a nice electric guitar sound. The leads sound beautiful IMO and convincing. I'll post an example later after work.

Hold up, let me chop some shit up from some of my beats because it sounds best when in context with the whole beat rather than by itself.

I liked how it sounded in the first beat, the second two sounded real fake. the next one I did hella like tho, and the last one sounded almost real. I think the 4th & 6th beats were the best....

I know what you mean, but my entire point wasn't to replicate an electric guitar exactly because you just can't for the most part since I ain't using an actual guitar and amp, I'm using "Lounge Lizard" which was made with the intention to create Electric Piano sounds. My point was to get a similiar sound, basically a "substitute." Just as a clap can be a subsitute for a snare,etc... That's probably why it sounds a bit more synthetic in some instances of my beats. Such as in beat2 those chords have a synthetic sound to it, but I liked that, however on top of that, when I start improvising with that FUNK @1:46, it sounds more like a real guitar. If you hear beat3, there's more your typical Electric piano playing in the background and on top of that is basically a simliar EP sound with distortion/wah effect added. That first one and last one do sound pretty d@mn real though but I think that has more to do with how I played it. Basically I'm just trying to make an EP sound funky and use it like an electric guitar. It's something I definitely recommend trying, you can get real funky and have that live sound to it.

Those are nice beats 50Cal. I actually like that "I'm High" beat the most. Sounds chill, I like the Electric piano in the background and that harp sound. My kind of shit right there. Now that Ridah beat is str8 gangsta, nice WestCoast lead synth sounds. I like the bassline in that "In Cali" beat the best. The clavs are definitely cool. I didn't use clav sounds though, I used more Rhodes and Wurli sounds since that's what Lounge Lizard is more built for and ran them through lounge lizard's FX like Wah/Distortion and delay/reverb.
