Edge suffered what is believed to be a torn Achilles tendon during his match with Jeff Hardy at last night's SmackDown/ECW live event in San Diego. The injury occurred five minutes into the match and had to be stopped. Edge apologized to the fans by saying "sorry" on the mic before being taken out.

The match started with much posturing as Edge was going around the ring taunting fans so they were only a minute into the actual action when the injury took place. It appeared he planted his foot wrong and went down with his leg at a bad angle when he attempted to leapfrog Hardy's charge. The match was immediately called off and EMTs came assist him before he was taken from the ring.

This is a very serious injury that would likely require surgery and a long period of down time, perhaps up to a year.

The rest of the SmackDown/ECW crew left this morning for a flight to Honolulu, Hawaii.

Edge needs time off anyway he wanted bc he said his legs are killing him. He been working too hard and he needs rest just like HBK, Taker been getting. Imo Orton gonna need some time off soon too bc they been working him extra hard

They need to scrap the angle for tomorrow with carlito and primo and give them back the tag tittles. BUT i think I know where they gonna go with teh tag tittles either get jericho a new partner, make cm punk & jeff tag champs(like austin and hbk back in 1997)I think they should give them to cryme tyme

seems like the WWE has a big problem handing the tag titles to crime time, i think they will drop them to Ted Jr and Cody Rhodes, Smackdown doesn't have any good tag teams. They need to concentrate with turning CM Punk heel instead of dropping him into a tag title storyline with hardy when they should be fueding for the world championship

You know its bad when Jericho and Edge was the best tag team in WWE. They will always be considered singles competitors these days. I dislike Jericho but like this whole tag team idea. I really like Punk now that hes a heel, never really disliked him just feel he didnt deserve the belt.

this fucking sucks cause i was excited when him and Jericho won the undisputed titles. they could have feuded with all types of team across all brands....damnit.

adam copeland is one hell of a performer and i wish him a safe recovery

compared to the other promotions wwe has the worst tag teams , i thought they were gonna build a new scene around the colons , i felt like they just slapped the jericho/edge team together overnight to try and compete with ROH and TNAs tag divisions which are both exciting right now .. but nope they drop the belts to a overnite manufactured jericho/edge team who show up out of nowhere during a PPV .. way to bring honor back to holding the tag titles wwe .

Edge was one of the best tag team wrestlers ever though, you could pair him with just about anybody and they would put on a good match. I think it would be tight if Christain turned heel and teamed up with Jericho.

WWEs tag team division sucks because they are spread too thin between all of the shows they have. The new hart foundation team has alot of potential. Tyson Kidd has a ton of potential

^^^It was taped before his injury. I watched it and was like, "WTF? I thought he was injured..."

I texted my buddy and asked him if it was live and he told me about it being taped prior to injury.
