This morning, EA announced that it has signed a new deal with the NFL and NFL Player's Association to maintain exclusive rights to the license through the end of the 2012 season.

"We are excited about the opportunity to extend and expand our relationships with the NFL and NFL PLAYERS," said Peter Moore, President of EA SPORTS. "For nearly two decades, EA SPORTS has been bringing sports fans closer to the great game of football through the breakthrough interactive experiences of our videogames. Game quality is our top priority, and we're committed to pushing our gameplay innovation, connecting football fans via rich online experiences and delivering the most visually stunning sports games on the market."

EA will once again be the only show in town and let's hope they keep the franchise rolling given that Madden 08 was their best effort in years.

No way, Madden shits all over any other footbal franchise period. Now when it comes to other sports, like baseball or basketball I prefer 2k. MaskedLemon is going to have a shit fit over this.

2K had a chance to prove themselves with APF and failed horribly. I think Madden 08 sucks on the next gen consoles. I'll just play Madden 08 on OXB until EA puts out a product worth dropping money on.

I wish the NFL and MLB would realize that competition is a GOOD thing. It is annoying to be forced to buy one product. DirecTV sucked in my only experience with it. Customer Service was HORRIBLE. The damn thing didnt even work for 24 consecutive hours. But you have to have it to watch Sunday Ticket. They would probably triple their subscriptions if they allowed it on cable.

MVP Baseball was ALOT better than 2K, but now we're stuck with an inferior product because MLB followed the same stupid steps as the NFL.

Overall it is a lose lose situation
