Just copped an 8X dual format Buslink DVD burner. Ain't never fucked with DVD recording before, so what do I need for clean copies?

I've heard that freeware like DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink is better than shit you gotta buy (DVD X Copy, Pinnacle InstantCopy). Also, there's EasyDivX and other shit that compresses video too. What's the difference? Any of y'all that do DVD ripping, give me some tips or suggestions on what to use and how to burn would be appreciated. Thanks.

.....

just go to www.dvdrhelp.com you can get all the tutorials and tools you need to burn dvds, some you be able to, and some you going to have to compress hella if you want the menus and stuff, you can still get a pretty good picture if you do stricly the movie, but like i said some movies you wont be able to do because the blank DVD's they sell are dvd 5 and alot of movies coming out now are dvd 9 which are about twice the size.....

DVD Decrypter takes off the copyright code and extracts the files to yer HD

DVD Shrink is used because most DVDs out now are BIGGER than the 4.6gb or whatever that u can put on a DVD disc....So it shrinks it to MAKE it fit

and Nero is just to burn the damn thing lol

Shit, the new version of DVD Shrink does DVD Decrpyter's job too.
For starters, DVD Shrink works best.
And you don't need a DVD decrypter anymore.

Nero 6 works best for burning the movie files into a DVD R.

In the future you might want to look into SmartRipper, to decrypt and rip your DVD's into your PC. And then shrink the movie (if needed) with DVD2One for the best possible video quality that's unmatched by any other shrinking software.
The thing that's great about DVD2One is that you only keep the main movie and your choice of soundtrack. So you only have 2 main files to work with and this gives you the best picture quality possible. If you ever want to save the special features, do what I do and burn them in a seperate disk using DVD Shrink....
You can then use Nero 6 to burn your new DVD....
