I define a "hater" as someone who openly disses someone, but at the same time, couldnt sit down, and calmly and eloquently(no "uh"s, "umm"s, "and like.."s, etc.) put in COMPLETE SENTENCES the reasons why they hate the person.
True, the word is watered down and misused, ironically enough, by people who are guilty of hating themselves (as well as hating themselves....*chuckles@his own joke*). I'd say a good 90% of the time, the word is used by people who are either confused, ill-tempered, hypocritical, arrogant, and so on, or something along those lines.
When i personally think of someone as a hater (i rarely CALL anybody one), it's usually for their open HATE of what im trying to do or planning to accomplish. Like, for example, if i was plannin on puttin out a new album, and someone said "Your album is gonna be shit!" and they aint even heard an 'official' promo/single yet, ya dig? Then they might say somethin like "I heard the songs you put online!" and its like "Dawg, listen to what you just said.....?" -- Basically, im sayin, if i got some fire shit...some polished-up, studio-recorded, PERFECTED stuff, why the fuck ima put it online and spoil the suprise, just to satisfy some lil hater who aint gonna cop my album anyways? Its just little things like that.....
Criticism and Hate are VERY different; some people are good at telling the difference, and can carefully explain why someone is hating vs just being pessimistic; and others have the lines blurred, and consider ANYTHING unflattering--such as constructive critism rather than open praise--to be "hating". -- (SWI is starting to influence me, i can tell...i been usin italics like a Mo-Fo lately!)
Interesting topic! Good shit, Young Krime AKA Da Ghetto Baby! heheheh :cheeky:
