Ok, so we have all seen those drum kits being sold that are "Neptunes" or "Dr. Dre" drums. I just saw a 3 dvd set that contains all the sounds for a motif es6 on it. I have two questions about that.

First question: Is it legal to sell these and to advertise them using the names of the artists or names of the keyboards the sounds come from?

Second Question: Are they really selling every sound off of a motif? The actual sounds that are in the keyboard?

Legal to sell, not legal to use any names, trademarks, copyrights etc when selling.

The only way to purchase every sound in the motif is to purchase a motif. You can sample all of the stock sounds (which some people do) and if you use the correct sampling program you'll have all the velocity layers, etc. The problem lies with the fact that you are sampling all of the TONES that are audible/turned ON when it comes to that specific patch.

As always, thanks for the info. So it is technically illegal for them to be using names like Dr. Dre or Fantom on the sound libraries but nobody really cares? Kinda like mixtapes using other peoples beats? (Until lately that is)
