Body Found Near Homewood Crash

PITTSBURGH -- A fatal crash in Homewood has Pittsburgh police trying to connect the dots.
Officers responded to a crash Monday morning and found a body about a block away.
The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Hamilton and North Lang avenues.
Police said someone hit a pedestrian who was possibly involved in a drug deal.
Officials said during the alleged drug deal, the people in the car attempted to take off without paying.
Police think victim leaned into the car and tried to put the vehicle into park when the people inside the car drove off.
The victim was dragged down the street until the driver hit a utility pole, severing the victim’s body in half.
Investigators then said the driver crashed the car about a half-block away and fled the scene.
Witnesses told police the people inside the vehicle were two white men and a black woman.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
The name of the victim has not been released.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
