I don't know if this will really happen...but I agree with it.

Dolphins | Owner will not accept rookie holdouts
Sun, 4 Feb 2007 08:47:16 -0800 KFFL.com

Barry Jackson, of the Miami Herald, reports Miami Dolphins owner H. Wayne Huizenga says any 2007 rookie who holds out during training camp should be prepared to sit out the entire season. ''I'm telling you - mark my words - if that guy is not in camp on the first day, he will sit out for the year,'' Huizenga said. "The Dolphins are going to take a stand. We are not going to pay some guy a whole bunch of money and he comes in five weeks late...That is not going to happen. We went through a couple of times where the guys are not in camp and not as productive as they should be the first three, four, five games. I am not going to go through that again...I'm not taking a shot at any player or agent.''

He may change his mind later if it's a player too good to pass up on.

Couldn't the owners get together and make a rule of some sort? You don't sign by this date you have to sit out the year?

They could but they won't. Why draft a first rounder and have his ass sit out the entire year and still get paid major loot? It just doesnt make any sense.

Thats the way it should be. You don't really know how these players are going to adjust to the pro level. Cedric Benson held out when the Bears drafted him, and now he's the second string rb.
And he said he should be the number one back.... I find it disrespectful. T. Jones is better than he is anyway.

they hold out for a contract...... if they sit there not getting paid, they have to wait and get drafted again.......

Right.

And if they go through the draft again, someone better may come along. Which means they may get drafted later...and make less money.

No I doubt they could do that, that would be either be collusion or the NFL Players would fight it bitterly. I'm sure its somewhere in the collective bargaining agreement.

thing is some people are not all bitches for holding out....its just what has to happen.....if the team doesnt pay what they should pay i think some players should hold out.....rookies on the other hand are diffrent cuz there unproven......but i dunno im stuck in the middle of this......but a good exapme of where this would work good is that lil girl reggie bush......he wanted first pick money when he wasnt the first pick....like it was seriously thought that he wasnt going to play the whole season and might get picked up by another team cuz he held out so long........ALSO pacman held out for a while too.....he missed most of the offseason......

when your a proven superstar then you can make demands (doesnt mean you should) but when your unproven you cant really ask for shit........ hundreds of first round picks never amount to shit in the NFL......

prove yourself and then you start making demands.........
