Does it cost money to update rosters on video games for PS3?

My buddy has 2K8, but doesnt play it online, nor does he care to, but shit, we need to update them rosters. Can you just hook it up to Cable and get on there and do it, or does it cost money?

^^^^depends on the game from what I heard. I know for a fact you cannot use a created player on MLB 08: The Show. Also, the current rosters will also be updated automatically. For example, when A-Rod was injured, he wasn't in the lineup- same with Posada. The teams overall standings fluxuate as well. Example, D-Backs were 14th overall, now they are 9th. Yankees were 8th and are now 6th since A-Rod is back.
