I like FPS games and action games as much as anyone.. they have their time and place.. a lot of them are some of the best games ever..
..but RPG's have their time too. They do things that no other genres can really do to that much of a degree.. things like putting you into your character and forcing you to progress through hours and hours of work at a time. Good RPG's will make this time spent "fun" and worthwhile though, and will deliver a story that even the longest and most detailed of movies could never compete with. Just because theyre so in depth and complex, and you're the one controlling the shit.
I know why a lot of people don't like em, it makes total sense. But I think those people should try to see why we DO like them if they think about it in that way.
