Last night I stepped on my glasses and crushed the shit out of them, so I was thinking about switching to contact lenses. What are the pros and cons? How much do they cost? How do they compare to glasses vision-wise. Or are they just a pain in the ass? How bout that lasek surgery, anybody got that?

man...contacts are cool

the most expensive part about them is the exam and fitting....they usuallly run about 25-70 a box depending on what kind you get.

I suggest rockin' the disposible ones.

keeping them in for extended periods of time is proven to increase your chances for eye diseases and infections...just lettin u know

i used to have contacts, but they were such a pain in the ass for me...and they just didn't feel right...maybe cuz i have astigmatism...i dunno...maybe the technology has improved since then, it was a few years ago.

On the real though - I had contacts for a minute, but didn't like them for one reason.

Sometimes they slip and go up your eyelid or under your eye. I felt if I ever got in a fight, that shit might get lodged up there and be a bitch to get out. I'd rather throw my glasses to the side and squab than sit trying to get this contact out of my brain while someone's punching me in my ear.

I got em and dont regret it. The cost isnt absurd..100-150 for a years prescription. I got the 1 month lenses and supposed to take em out every night. I usually keep in for the month er so then switch em out. I get horrible headaches once in a while from havin em in so i take em out. Eyes are usually dry in the morning. But there worth it. I do know of a friends mom who never switched em and had problems with the vessels in her eyes being deprived of oxygen for wearin em to long. Wear em close to correct there great.

ok, so I got some contacts... i put them in yesterday and wore them all day. I noticed at about the 5 hour mark my vision started getting a little blurry... by about 8 hours it was really blurry. I figured maybe having them in for long periods of time makes them dirty or something. So after having them in the solution overnight, I put them in today and right away there was a slight blur to my vision. It feels kinda like Im looking through smudged glasses... is this normal? Is it that they're dirty?

There's a few things that can cause it to blur.

What kind of solution did you put them in? Have you tried using rewetting drops when shit gets blurry? There's also some shit you can buy that cleans the protein buildup on them and you put one drop into the the solution each night and it keeps shit pretty clean.

They should of recommended that you only wear them for about 4-5 hours the first week since you're new to them. When i first got my pair, they made it a point that i didn't wear them that long in the beginning. In anycase, you'll adjust to them.

I have a solution called Aquify. Whats a brand of rewetting drops I could use? Also, is there certian drops Im not supposed to use with contacts in my eyes?

The rewetting drops I use are called Renu MultiPlus made by Bausch & Lomb.... and you're really not supposed to be using anything else like Visine/Clear Eyes/etc unless it's specially made for contacts, but I've used regular Clear Eyes in the past with no problems and it actually helped take the red out of my eyes when they were irritated and after the rewetting drops didn't work. Then again I still wear the old school Acuvue 2 disposables so it could be different for you depending on what brand you wear...I've never heard of Aquify, but you might want to check the instructions and see if you have to use the rub method to clean them. It'll help them last longer and keep the irritation down.

You know what else I noticed is that these contacts work great in the daytime, however they seem blurry at night or in artificial light... headlights and streetlamps have that hazy glare to them.
