Does any1 know if the PS4 playes MKV file videos?

I know it plays AVI and MP4 videos but no sure if it plays MKV files.....the PS3 never did play them.

I use plex, files are on my computer or external and are streamed thru wifi. works on both ps3 & ps4....I think xbox too
