MIXTAPES WERE COOL WHEN THEY FIRST CAME OUT CAUSE IT GAVE YOU MORE MATERIAL FROM AN ARTIST OVER INDUSTRY BEATS. BUT THEN ALOT OF ARTISTS STARTED CONCENTRATING ON MIXTAPES MORE THAN THERE ALBUMS...AND IT BECAME A TREND THAT EVERYONE DO A MIXTAPE...SO YOU ENDED UP HEARING EVERYBODY AND THERE MOM BUSTING OVER A LIL JON BEAT...SHIT GOT OLD QUICK.
how can you blame the mixtapes? the problem is the lack of buzz. no one fucking cares. thats the problem.not the mixtape.

cali niggas bank too much on mixtapes like they are LP's.. puttin too much money and energy into em..
mixtapes are disposable.
like flyers. like stickers.
everyone should make as many as possible.. they cost like .38 a piece to make. its worth the hassle and little is needed to have a hot mixtape for a couple weeks. some live longer than others. cali is just late in the game. you kids are so used to payin for overpriced rehashed compilations and what not niggas are numb to purchasing anything..
outta towners LOVE mixtapes tho and SD is outta towner paradise.

but honestly niggas didnt really respect mixtapes til 50 blew up. even while west coast was dominatin underground hip hop for years in a row.

Like Synical said. Artist put way too much energy into a mixtape. Put that energy into an album. When and if they do come out with an album ...it's got like 3 cuts from the mixtape on there...because they burnt all the creative writing resources on 20000 mixtapes. Then we left with an album that sucks . The only good songs just so happen to be the ones they recycled from the mixtape. Just my 2 pesos.
