Would you be angry if one of the tracks you put online or on a promo cd ended up on a non-profit mixtape? (This doesnt include album tracks, but promo/single/online tracks only.)

Holla back.

[email protected] down.....but that is against copyright laws if you take someone else's music and throw it on a mix tape without them saying, yes it's ok....but hey, you can do it anyway, and then even more people wouldn't like you....lmao....

i think you guys are mistaken....i can agree with Tadpole on this one. mix tapes are a GOOD WAY to get exposure, because generally theyre FREE. so tad wont get payed anyhting for doin this, hes takin money out his pocket to support and sxpose other NW artists. handing CDs out, sending em to folks, whatever, as logn as u dont get paid its all legal. but do me a favor if u are actually doin this tadou, put a tracklisting on it, and maybe some contact/info (websites, contact #'s, etc.....if u didnt already think of that).....ease up fellas, he really is just helpin out on this one

EXACTLY!! I was gonna type out almost the SAME EXACT THING that DeluzioN did right here.

50 packs of CDs w/cases ive seen for as low as $25-30, which means to break even, i'd have to make less than 60 cents from each cd; so basically, i can give away 20 cds, sell 30 of em for a dollar each, and not come up short.

Now, if im not doing this for the money..."Whats in it for you", you might ask? Well, as some of you know, im in a group affectionately known as "FourPlay Studio". So on this proposed tape, i'd just happen to mix in a song from my own group!

Overall, these tapes are exactly what DeluzioN said without me having to say it! (Lucky day!). I may not have money out the culo, but ive got enough--im poor, and i love every moment of it! I, personally, plan on passing these out when i sell an LP from my group; buy a $5 lp--which is already a good ass deal!--and get a free mixtape. Good idea, ehh? :classic:

DeluzioN-- yeah, tracklistings are a great idea. I plan on listing 1) Artist-Song, 2) Label, and 3) contact info/website...I would need to find/print inserts with 4-panel tray cards to do that, tho.

Kaoz-- plz do not get be baned frum da sight, i am nice, ok! i will give u nude pics of britaney speers or jenifer lopes,, pleez dont???? :(

Full time college student is 12 credits...im signed up for 20!! Im not gonna have enough time :( Thats why im backin off my rap career for a minute, and focusing on djing/production.

A compilation is a good idea too, but when you have exclusive tracks being made, people want $$$! And i aint finna shell out no funds for that...one of my song lines says it best: "My flow is currently the currency..words is exchanged!"

if anybody's interested, ill trade writtens or ghostwrittens for beats/vinyls/equipment. holla @ me!

I strongly agree with Kaze, $crilla would whoop some ass mutha fucka... If i heard anybody taking anything i worked with and dropped it with another company i wasnt working with on their mixed tape.. This is a greedy industry. Your eather rollin with the best or your left with the rest.. If tadou placed any of my real work on a mixed tape it would be above a lawsuit.. it would be a beat down for sho.. Aint no way i could affiliate my business with his stupid figure in the streets.. he couldent even be a street team, come back beat on cryin and jacked for his free cd's! Tadou its nothin personal... just never use any my material for anything. Thats all..

Maby someday we can see beyond that, but until then you should do your homework.

Im just gonna go out on a limb for a second....and guess that you all have NO FUCKING IDEA what i mean by 'mixtape'. Im not talking about buying/stealing a new cd, jacking it for its best songs, and putting it on tapes to pass out. Im talking about, if you release a new CD single, i yell over it a couple times, and put it on a mixtape, then er'body got a copy of it to bump.

On the east coast, mixtapes is RAMPANT, and as you can tell, so are cd sales. Cats is knockin on DJ's doors non-stop, tryin to get their cuts on the new Kay Slay or Doo Wop tape. On radio shows, they play whole mixtapes at a time; nothin but underground rap, straight-through. So what i mean by mixtape is, basically, like recording off the radio, because these dickhead stations arent gonna play all the local tracks. I could bet you a nice round amount like $150,000 that "Murder Inc - Down 4 U" is on about 20 mixtapes right now, and if anything, Irv Gotti is ready to give all the DJ's hugs for doin it...not beat them down!!!

If you ever wanna MAKE shit in this industry, you gotta be willin to GIVE AWAY shit. If you cant and wont give away SHIT, your whole career is gonna be fucked, and wont go anywhere but into obscurity (if you dont know what that means, its bad). Im willin to give HOURS out of my personal time & money to make some tapes, and personal time & money is something i not only dont have a lot of, but DONT HAVE period. Im tryin to SAVE UP money and MAKE TIME to be able to do this, but if people are gonna be ignorant, then i wont bother.

To put it simply, if you're and artist or label and cant see the opportunity to make money in this, you're a fuckin clown, and should stop makin albums. In case you aint noticed, this isnt exactly New York or Philly, sales-wise. We're all in this struggle together (or so i thought?), so pull your head out of your collective asses, and realize you're NEVER gonna blow without the help of people like me

Now, ima try this one more time. Should i be passin out lists of mp3.com/label addresses, or should i be passin out lists of mp3.com/label addresses along with ready-made cds?
