I don't believe in either, but . . .

I would want to go to heaven because it would be an eternity of perfection.

I would not want to go to hell because it would be an eternity of unimaginable horror.

Given the prospect of eternal badness, eternal goodness, or eternal nothingness – my choice would be eternal goodness and it is a greater motivation for me to strive for the reward of eternal goodness rather than to attempt to avoid eternal nothingness or badness.

It just seems like many people only want to go to Heaven because Hell is the other option. Its not like you are going to really "enjoy" Heaven, because it would only be your spirit anyway. I just wanted to see who really wants to sing to God and praise him for eternity? Is that your goal here on earth? to make it so your next life, singing and praising God is all you do?

Right. Most religions are based heavily on the reward/punish system. I mean without the fear of hell, there probably would be a lot more kids growing up questioning religion. But since kids are told the scary ass stories about hell (I mean they are already scared of the boogie man under the bed), it's easy to frighten them into believers.

I used to deal with this when I was a Christian. What I ended up believing was that even if this was what it bioled down to, it would be something you would want to do. It wouldn't be something where you was like "fuck this im out"

Kind of like church in real life. It wouldnt be like church.

Or would it?

What is your conception of "spirit" that would stop one from enjoying?

yes, too bad religion has falsified many peoples conception. Not only ones conception of spirit/soul, but also heaven/hell(earth),and thats not it, the most important misconception brought up by religion is of God itself.
now that i think of it religion has also fucked up the conception of religion itself....

im glad you bring that up, that pisses me off beyond belief, that is why i just have my beliefs in "god" and thats it, i cant say im a Christian, cause i hate everything i see them do. just like that 2 year old kid at church that waves the flag for jesus, thats fucking brainwashing in my opinion because that kid doesnt know who the fuck jesus is, its just getting put into the kids head at a fragile age that this is what "normal" people do. i remember when i was a child, id try to speak in "tongues" cause it was what all the "spiritual leaders" could do. i remember waving that flag when i was young, thinking that i was finally fitting in, its all bad. and the fact that they have some kind of "ranking" system with super christians prayer warriors and mere believers pissed me off, anyways, im gonna stop.

i would rather go to heaven, everyone speaks so highly of it, and id like to experience it myself. i have never read in the bible that it will be eternity of worshiping god in the way your thinking, and if it is, who knows, we on earth worship money and sex so would it be that bad? and define worship for me? is it just singing songs? it says in the bible there are many forms of worship. according to a preacher from Manhattan, "Worship is ascribing worth to God. When we worship, we acknowledge that He is God and we are not. Knowing how high above us, how powerful, how holy, how unlike us in all the right ways our God is." this in no way seems like singing to me, but thats only my interpretation.

when i was a muslim i basically only wanted to avoid hell. Heaven was just an extra.
mother fuckers focused on the pain and torture that goes on in hell n make you fear life n death from a very young age.
shit does shatter your sense of reality and thats why many ex believers have so much hate towards their previous belief.
me, i just know that those who taught me those teachings were only doing so because they believe that its the truth and they are attempting to look out for me so i just shake my head n feel bad bout n for em.
it didnt matter to me if there was an eternity of nothingness
