all opinions are encouraged.

do you have a problem with someone making WHACK SHIT with your equipment or studio? i know everyone has a preference and its all opinion but damn......lately i've been taking some cats money and he is HORRIBLE. HE DID HAVE SKILLS BUT NOW THEY ARE GONE. HE HAS BEEN IN A SLUMP FOR LIKE 3-4 YEARS NOW.

WHEN PEEPS COME HERE I STAY IN THE ROOM IF I NEED TO. IN MOST CASES THE PEOPLE CAN BE LEFT ALONE BECAUSE THEY ALREADY KNOW HOW TO WORK EQUIPMENT (I HAVE ALARMS AND CAMERAS ALSO). I DONT LIKE TO BOTHER FOLKS WHEN THEY ARE MAKING TRACKS. I GIVE PEOPLE SPACE BUT THIS GUY IS HORRIBLE. THE SHIT HE MAKES SOUNDS AS IF HE WAS ON THE *WORST* NARCOTICS KNOWN TO MAN.

THE MONEY IS GOOD BUT MAN I DONT WANT FOLKS TO EVEN KNOW HE DID THAT SHIT AT MY SPOT. SO WHEN I BURNED HIM A SNIPPIT CD (OF HIS BEATS) I MADE **SURE** THAT I LISTED *HIS* NAME AND THAT ***ALL*** BEATS WERE MADE BY **HIM**. I DIDNT PUT MY NAME OR MY SPOTS NAME ON THAT *SHIT*. I COULDNT.

PERSONALLY WHEN I MAKE TRACKS ITS A DRAWN OUT PROCESS. IF I MAKE IT AND I SAVE IT IT HAS TO SOUND GOOD 2 OR 3 DAYS LATER. AFTER THAT IT HAS TO SOUND GOOD WHEN I SEQUENCE/ARRANGE IT. IF NOT I GO BACK AND MAKE CHANGES. IF THE CHANGES DONT WORK IT GETS SCRAPED. AFTER THAT IT HAS TO SOUND GOOD WHEN I BURN A SNIPPET. AFTER THAT IT HAS TO SOUND GOOD TO OUTSIDERS (WITH NO BIAS). I HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH SCRAPPING A BEAT OR SONG. IF IT DOESNT WORK IT DOESNT WORK BUT THIS GUY...MAN....

I KNOW ***EVERYONE*** HAS MADE SOME DUMB SHIT IN THE PAST. SOME ARE STILL MAKING DUMB SHIT BUT DAMN.....I PLAYED SOME OF HIS SHIT FOR MY *MOM* AND SHE SAID IT WAS GARBAGE.....

IM NOT GOING TO MENTION THE FACT THAT THIS GUY WENT TO SCHOOL FOR MUSIC AND RECEIVED SOME TYPE OF DEGREE.

MAN IM THINKING MY SPOTS NAME IS WAAAAAAAY IMPORTANT THAN HIS CASH...BUT...THE MONEY IS GOOD. HE IS MAKING THE BEATS AND PUTTING THE MONEY BEHIND SOME CATS FROM THE HOOD. THOSE CATS ARENT GONNA RAP TO THAT SHIT. THEY ALREADY TOLD ME SO THATS MORE CASH FOR ME. IS IT WORTH IT?

Right now I'm hookin' up my homie with beats and recording time. He picks a lot of my weaker beats, the throw aways, beats I don't want. Or if I hook 'em up with a knockin', Hard ass beat he comes back and spits the same silly shit over it(totally ruining the track). It's pretty much at the point where I only want recognition on a couple of tracks and not the whole thing. I wouldn't be proud at all having my name all over his shit, and website and such. There's a couple other folks I'd rather be producing for, Projects I would be very proud to have my name and company name on. After his project is through, I'm not gonna fuck with him later on, not even for money, unless he gets a lot better at rappin'.

Put it this way, if his homies won't rap on his beats, but they want to drop over beats you've done, you're bringin' in more business. I would probably keep doin' it for a while longer, he can at least put in a good word for you(as long as other folks know he did the shit at your spot entirely all himself

Garbage is garbage and it looks bad for everyones name attached to it. People arn't going to analyze the music to the point where they are judging every different aspect of it. Most people probably wouldn't even know how to do that. They hear wack shit, see your name on it and associate your name with wack shit.

Any work you do or is done in your studio reflects on your reputation. If you want to be known for doing hot music, want your studio known for having hot music come out of it or want to attract a-list clients then you have to be selective and maintain a standard of quality.

NONE of your time should be spent explaining to people that you had nothing to do with a project that came out of your studio.

Well I told the cat whats up and he is feeling me BUT...his thing is "if im putting up the cash thats all that matters." Well im saying regardless of if you are putting up the cash or not you still need to come with something tight. What you do here MAY have an impact on MY business down the road. Thats what I was telling the cat but i dont know if he understood that...but how could you not understand?

Its not like im taking the cash and not giving a damn about his product. Im taking the cash AND im giving a damn about his product. If I didnt I wouldnt have had convos with him.

I told this cat that he needs to do one of three things.

buy some tracks from me (the kind they WILL rap to and want)

come tight on your own (impossible)

have them in the studio when you make the tracks. that way they can have input.

That leads us back to "IM FRONTING THE CASH ETC ETC ETC"...

The rappers ARE tight. they ARE from the STREETS. they have a street mentality and basically thats all they know...grinding,hustling,guns doin donuts etc etc etc....

If cats are rapping about that you cant put them over cheesy music. the music has to reflect THEM. The music he makes doesnt sound like casio it simply sounds crazy as fuck (in a bad way).

I must admit that he DID try to bring the cats in one day but they couldnt be found (they were on the block). I HONESTLY FEEL THAT IM GETTING PAID FOR NOTHING.

Cat is dead wrong. Money is NOT all that matters. Only fools take any money that's offered to them without considering anything else. He either doesn't get it or doesn't care how your business could be affected. As long as you're conscious of it though, that's all that matters. You should do whats in the best interest for your business. Sometimes that means declining projects.

You went the extra step by offering to help him tighten up his situation. Hopefully he appreciates the honesty and has enough sense to take some good advice!
