I know D.O.C. didn't blow until he hooked up with Ruthless but he's actually from Dallas, Texas. I have seen some people out here in Cali claim dude as a West Coast artist but since he was raised in Dallas he's a southern artist all the way to me. He's also the the one cat that would of definitly gave Scarface & K-Rino a run for there money on this rap shit if he didn't lose his voice.

Some younger cats might not know but dude was on the level of Rakim on that mic.

YES, DOC IS A LEGEND, IMO, VERY UNDERRATED. EVEN WITH THE LOSS OF HIS VOICE, HE STILL CAME HARD. BUT AS FAR AS YOUR QUESTION, I NEVER GAVE IT MUCH THOUGHT, I WOULD LIKE TO SEE WHAT PEOPLE SAY.

Fila Fresh Cru was Fresh K, Dr. Rock and The D.O.C.....all from texas.
LOL, I forgot about the Fila Fresh Crew from the 80's. Talk about bringing back the memories. I remember they were on N.W.A.'s first album "N.W.A. and the Posse" back in 1988. That's when N.W.A. still had Arabian Prince, Ron-De-Vu and Rappinstine in their group. Dre, Cube, Yella, Ren, Eazy and the rest all looked hella young on the cover, lol. I use to play that cut by Fila Fresh Crew "Dunk The Funk" all the time back then! They also had that corny ass song on the album called "Drink It Up".....

in set free he does say "it was hard comin up in the west dallas projects cuz in the 90's on the west coast you cn either get your slang on or get your bang on".

Yeah thats where DOC is from too, I didn't feel like lookin all over the internet to prove a point. It was in an old Rappages magazine and if you look at any of the articles from when 187s father passed away you'll see it was in Dallas.
