yeah,seems like they just get swallowed up by majors and never see the sucess they or anybody else thought they would get from a major deal

Yup, I think so. Signing to a major is NO GUARANTEE for success...in some cases, you might not be anything but a tax write-off...and there's too big of a risk that you'll be forced to compromise your style and do soft radio shit. I mean, once you sign your John Hancock, they've basically got you by the nutsack. Can they refuse to put your CD out if you don't make songs for the radio? If you've signed their contract, you bet they can (unfortunately). Ice-T once told MURDER DOG (in 1999), "Hardcore Rap in general really doesn't work too well on the major labels," and I believe him.

its all true man and its not always necessary that they rely too much; its that they are not very skilled workers, in other words they are just plain unoriginal and therefore their music SUCKS!!!
