I see all the huge record labels hitting my email accounts with their eBlast campaigns for their record releases, but I rarely see any for bay area rap artists. If you have done one in the past, post a screenshot of it! Was it effective in driving traffic to your site? Did your conversion rate go up at all? Do you think these are an effective way to reach your audience?

I thought I would give it a try for myself since sales are slow due to the economy. I just had one made up for Skip Dog of E.Z.S.D. but my email address is only at 800. For those of you that do eBlast marketing campaigns, do you hire someone to blast it off, or do you use you own contact email list? Shiiiit, let me know what you think of the eBlast below!?!

Bay Area artists/record labels/managers (save for a very small handful) don't do e-mail blasts or any real online promotions.

Artists/record labels/managers from other areas do.

Notice the lack of Bay Area artists on hip hop blogs/websites? It's not a coincidence.

USE BCC FUNCTION...I hate when people jack my address from legit folks who sent an email blast using CC.

Then I get 30 clowns sending me their "EXCLUSIVE NEW SHIT"

fuckouttahere.

BCC=BLIND carbon copy.

In the context of e-mail, blind carbon copy (abbreviated Bcc: and sometimes referred to as blind courtesy copy or blank carbon copy[citation needed]) refers to the practice of sending a message to multiple recipients in such a way that what they receive does not contain the complete list of recipients.

I never reccomend my clients get on a blast UNLESS it your personal blast that you built or has relevance to what the audience/fan has already opted-in too.

You need to ENGAGE your fans, not EnRAge them. Annoying ass hood email blasts from people you dont give a shit about decrease your brand identity.

DJ/industry email blasts are different.

Also, your "blast" better have an unsubscribe option that someone can click on otherwise it is literally spam...Use mailing list software like mailman.

Believe it or not your ISP can cancel yer account if you get too many SCOMP reports (people hitting the spam button on the email) and you don't have an unsubscribe option.

Exactly, I should have specified that. There are different types of blasts. Indecent was correct when recommending gathering emails addresses from shows, etc... for direct to the fan email blasts.

I get emails from both (DJ/industry & up n coming cats) because I need to for my site. If I only bothered with the professional blasts my site would have exactly the same shit as every other site. By giving those up n comers a chance it helps my site be a little more unique.
