This shit cracks me up. I heard some black dude today talkin about "he doesn't feel represented as a people on TV".
I did an informal survey of shows I flipped through during this afternoon, and 14/18 of them had black characters, either main or supporting actors.
1/18 of them had a "Latino/Latina" actor.
0/18 had people of Middle Eastern Descent, and
1/18 had someone of Asian descent.
And then MTV. Over half of their hosts are black or mixed. How many are Latino? How many are Asian? Besides that one Chin bitch...
How many are of Middle Eastern descent? None, maybe one, at one point in time?
That shit cracks me up. MTV is supposed to be this progressivist, "with it" TV station that is "down with the social issues brother", yet the only people who get adequate representation on MTV are Whites, Blacks, and Gays, with the latter two being misproportionally represented.
And when a Latino is on TV, they're light-skinned. You'll never see a dark ass Mexican with prominent, "Indio" features in the lead role. They're always spaniards. Isn't Antonio Banderas a fuckin spaniard? And Salma Hayek, that bitch looks like a whitey with a tinge of something else and dyed hair.
Asians, South American, and Middle Eastern actors get the shit end of the stick. I wonder how long this will take to catch up...
