Now considering the fact that my 002r died two weeks ago, that it costs 350 to repair or 400 for an advanced replacement I'm stuck for a bit. These joints cost the SAME as the 002 and 002r so ANYONE looking for a pro tools interface would be best to snatch a 002(R) because the prices are going to drop drastically.

Still, should I get the new one and go through teh trouble of upgrading teh system to 7.3 and trying to configure this new hardware or should I get the 002r and upgrade later?

fuck wit the 003... but you know youll prolly find a 002r for about 500 now, so i dont know...

whats the difference?? it looks like the only difference is 2 headphone jacks instead of 1..

by the way, 7.3 is the shit... hella easy to get around, one click instrument tracks instead of having to create 3 tracks (midi, aux, audio) and you can assign shit to the right click button

I've been using 7.1 and 7.3 for sometime now (7.3 at another spot), but if my unit hadn't died on me a couple of weeks ago I wouldn't even consider purchasing this. From what I can tell it has 2 jacks, but I didn't need two jacks anway because I had that covered with routing the outs to multiple pairs of speakers, amps and headphone setups. It has wordclock, but I don't need wordclock so this is a useless machine for me. From what I understad, AND THIS IS UNCONFIRMED, it ships with 7.4, and that 7.4 is vista compatable and won't work on the 0023.

If anyone can confimr the bold/underline I'd appreciate it.

Edit: who the hell designed the rack version? The mixer version looks like that maudio shit, but the 003r looks gay as hell.

I think they start shipping on march 11th or march 14th. The console does look ok, but it looks like a cross between the stand alone console they dropped that was to be used with the 002r (it didn't have pre amps or anything like that) and the maudio console thats out.

Hell yeah they are gonna phase it out. Anytime you come with a new product that costs the same as your current product its going down teh drain. They still are going to provide support, but I don't know for how long. They provided support for the 001 up until like 6.4, and the 001 had been out for some time. All I know is people are going nuts on the DUC. People are calling this the "star trek edition" and "002.1" lol! I haven't read anything positive about this unit and it isn't even out yet.

Looks dope, 4 mics 8 ins 8 outs, ADAT I like the new sleek look of the control surface. and comes bundled.

002s are gonna drop, maybe i'll be able to afford some decent gear when i get back to work

honestly, the 002 is extremely clunky to me, so anything to improve the look and feel and ultimately the workflow in the lab im wit it.. shit i got my 001 off for a g to a dumb ass cat who loved the hustle, so im sure i can get 2 or more for the 002...lol

good thing is standalone midi...

but the master track will asign itself to a fader when you create the master trck in pt... theres a monitor knob that controls the overall loudness coming thru the monitors

That master fader thing is bugging the crap outta me, I guess Id have to get the rack. Unless the master fader is a knob and its just not easy to see from the small pic. That shit still looks pretty cool though, and i like the features and i've heard nothing but good shit about 7 and up. I wonder if the components are any better than the 002s?

There's a "monitor" and "headphone" knob in the upper right corner of the 002, I'm sure its the same wit the 003. The monitor knob regulates the overall volume coming out of the monitors, in effect, a master volume control...

But in pro tools there's not a default master fader activated untill you create a master track, and when you create one, one of the 8 faders will control it, and if you have 22 tracks or sumthin, plus a master track, they will be placed accordingly on the faders, and you can switch thru the "pages" so to speak, of faders...

yeah its been awhile, at this point i havn't used anything besides the shit in my rig in 2 years. I've been eyeballing the project mix for awhile now and assumed the 002 and the control 24 had master faders but i realized they don't.

If maudio can put a master fader on there unit why can't digi design? I can understand saving money or whatever, but a master fader should not be an option on a console. A master fader should be standard. Also, if the automation data can't be written using the knob whats teh use of even having the knob on an automated console? It's doing half its job at that point...

cause the master track gets its own fader when you create it... and you can write automation to it, ive done it plenty of times


itd look like this

you have 4 audio 2 midi, and two aux tracks crated in your session, then your mixer would read



AUD1 AUD2 AUD3 AUD4 MID1 MID2 AUX1 AUX2



then you create a master track in the session and it reads



MAST AUD1 AUD2 AUD3 AUD4 MID1 MID2 AUX1



then press the "page >" button and youll see



AUX2 ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____



and you can automate to death
