Diddy's Sean John fashions may look pretty but according to the Humane Society of the United States, some of it was being made out of dog fur.
The Society revealed on their website that the Sean John Hodded Snorkel Jacket, advertised as having an "imitation rabbit fur collar" and "faux fur" was actually made from real fur from raccoon dogs the HSUS says are "killed inhumanely in China."
The jacket retails for over $200 but since the expose, it has been pulled off the racks of Macy's department stores and online on Macys.com, which carry Diddy's clothing line.
"The mislabeling of a fur product is a violation of federal law," says the HSUS on its website.
Diddy has issued a statement in response to the fur issue, and has told the HSUS that future production of the jackets will use faux fur only.
"I was completely unaware of the nature of this material, but as soon as we were alerted, the garments were pulled off the Macy's floor and website," Combs said. "I have instructed our outerwear licensee to cease the production of any garments using this material immediately. I appreciate the tireless work that the Humane Society does and would like to thank them for bringing attention to this issue."
