I saw this on cnn or soemthing... it said the pope ended communism, wtf? How did the pope end communism? by praying?

the church did play a big role in helping US imperialism in much of Latin America. When "communist" peasants in El Salvador, Cuba, Bolivia, Guatemala, etc etc etc were trying to liberate themselves the church denounced it and even helped the totalitarian US backed governments fight them. The church was practicing self-preservation, if the peasants were liberated the church would have no power so they supported totalitarian right-wing governments.

bah, greatest president definitely not. ended Communism? It's and idea, you can't end an idea; Communist parties exist to this day.

The Pope describes his efforts in his latest book, I haven't read it yet. I'll get back to ya.

Yeah, the USSR fell because of Ronny and the Pope, and because their own people hated the the USSR gov.
