Nick Diaz (Pictures) has signed an exclusive deal to fight in the U.S. with EliteXC that will add an additional two years to his current contract, which has two fights remaining, Sherdog.com learned late Wednesday.
Diaz will fight next on Nov. 10 in Corpus Christi, Texas in an EliteXC 160-pound title fight.
Both EliteXC vice president Jared Shaw and Diaz's manager Cesar Gracie (Pictures) declined to comment on the 24-year-old Stockton, Calif.'s opponent, though Sherdog.com was told it is a fighter currently signed to EliteXC.
The new contract guarantees Diaz three to five fights a year in 2008 and 2009, Gracie said.
"It's a lot more than he was making before obviously and it's a lot closer to what he's worth," Gracie told Sherdog.com. "People want to see him fight.
"Showtime stepped up and met the financial commitments."
Diaz made his EliteXC debut on Sept. 15, out-pointing Hawaii's Mike Aina (Pictures). The win upped his record at 160 pounds to 2-0, including a spectacular submission win over Takanori Gomi (Pictures) in February, following which Diaz was suspended six months for testing positive for marijuana.
