Diaz Brothers team up with Andre Ward...

Nick and Nathan Diaz will be joining the camp of Olympic Gold Medalist, Andre Ward. Ward will be fighting in the finals of the “Super Six Tournament” against Carl Froch on the same night that Nick Diaz is set to fight UFC Champion, Georges St. Pierre. Nick and Andre have sparred infrequently for the past 10 years with each man acheiving immense success in their respective sport. This be the first time the two fighters collaborate to spar frequently in an official camp.

In the history of boxing and mma, this will mark the first time two champions from these sports have teamed up together. Spike television’s Primetime show and Showtime’s Barker show will undoubtedly put the spotlight on this collaboration.

“I know that Georges is training with Freddie Roach but I doubt he’s sparring Pacquiao. Nick will be sparring frequently with Ward and I think it will help him tremendously.” -Cesar Gracie

Not sure why Ward agreed to this.
I'm a big fan of Diaz, just as much as you guys but there is nothing Ward gains from sparring with Diaz. Especially when his opponent is Carl Froch.

Doing him a favor I guess...

This isn't really new in terms of their camps. Diaz/Ward have sparred with each other in the past and are apparently cool with each other. Here's an article from 2009 about them sparring together..

In terms of benefit for anything a lot of guys they are sparring partners and necessarily good pros, they're good for sparring. There's plenty of stories of gym warriors that spar with greats and do well, and get good work in on both sides, one of them doesn't do it where it matters.

Yeah unless they are expanding their training together, this is not really new, they have worked together in the past for quite some time. Now to answer why Ward would do this, IMO it is for the TV coverage and the simple fact that they are friends. This fight is going to have a primetime show that will be 3 parts and it focuses on training a lot, so Ward could have a lot of face time.

guys got an amazing record prolly in the top 10 p4p great attitude gives back to the community if he was a LV or Heavy theyd be making movies about em
nah, the division he's in is stacked with big names I think it's more of the fact he's just not typically that exciting (as far as casual fans are concerned). He rarely gets any KO's and he has the philosophy of "hit and don't be hit" so he'll never be a big draw, unless he adopts some crazy mayweather type personality which just isn't him. He can be pretty big in Oakland if he keeps winning, but nationally I don't think so.

I think The Ring Magazine said it best about Ward: "He'll never be a star but he'll beat all of the stars".
