What is the best to use? I'm on Dial Up... (yeah I'm already knowin'...lol..) and it just seems to get slower and slower I swear...

I need to switch to something better but damn.. I'm not trying to spend $50/mo.....

Suggestions?

as far as I know, neither dsl or cable costs 50 bucks a month. I believe my dad pays like 25 a month for cable. DSL is the best though.

I know a lot of people are gonna come on here and say cable is better than DSL but I had dsl before i had cable and my dad never should have switched. Anyone who says cable is better just doesnt want to admit they dont have the best.

cable loads a little faster, but all the talk about high traffic times are 100% true. during high traffic hours, cable slows down quite a bit.

but overall, if you have dial up, you cant really go wrong with either cable or DSL

Once you lose dialup you'll never go back. From experience DSL is more consistant with speed, but you can get a faster dl and ul with cable. You can get a 3 mb connection but if you're just into web browsing and not into file transfering something like a 768 k would work fine. Start off cheap and upgrade if needed.

i actually have dsl and cable in the same house, the cable is mine, and i wouldnt think of switching to dsl. dsl is cheaper i think but the speed doesnt even compare. if you dont need as much speed i would say nothing is wrong with dsl

Thanks for all the responses.. I appreciate it..

I'm upgrading my whole system (dont ask what the hell the lil nerdy guy is gonna do.. I'm pretty much PC retarded.. but he's making a house call so I'm just gonna let him have at it..) as well as getting one of those flat monitors thta hangs on the wall (fingers crossed that my bonus is FAT) .. so I figured I'd just make all the changes all at once.. I just want to be able to watch video and listen to whatever music without in going in and out on me..

So can you drop a link or two so I can make it happen..? I think its Qwest out here thats charging $50/mo and I'm looking to pay closer to $25-$30...

Cable is alot faster than DSL. The comcast worker who hooked up cable for my computer gave reassions why cable is better but I forgot. Get cable its well worth it

I'd get cable also if you could afford it, because I'd say it's much faster. As far as experiencing a slow down because of high traffic volumes, if true, don't think I ever even noticed a difference. But I guess if you're looking to spend about 25-30 a month, go with DSL because the speed of it will be suffice for something you'd want it for.
