Hyphy is different things to different people. Cause it means several things all at once.

We have been doing hyphy for the last 2 decades, Richie Rich of 415 caught and described the essence of it best in his song SideShow at that time. Late 80's early 90's our culture up here has always been influenced by the subculture that is dominated by Blacks.

No other area will you see, and I live on Fairfax and High Street-hot dope track. Anyway in my neighborhood are Latins, Whites--they will kick yo azz too, tonga's, vietnamese etc. But the culture that dominates where I stay is a product of the streets.

Hyphy is just that, a product of the subculture, urban living, drug sellin and using, Scrapers, Chevs, Stangs, Coug's, Escalade trucks.

For the most part it is a way of life that just is. On a sunday when the weather is nice and you riding through the town and you see folk in they cars at the gas stations, smoking on good purp, it just is.

I love the Town...

in my experience hyphy used to have a meaning before it was actually a name of a song...id say other muthafuckas and people around me been sayin hyphy atleast a few good years before it became something else like a label for a region or genre of muzik...

let me give you a senario of hyphy back in the day before all this hyphy movement begun...

"yea mayne we was at that rave at homebase after hella nigguhz couldnt get in they was letting people out cuz of capacity so muthafuckas bumrushed the gate, shit got the lights turned on... with the party ova and nothing ta do muthafuckaz put on a sideshow, fights broke out, muthafuckas was getting robbed..police came through and they couldnt handle it so they just let shit go..it was HYPHY mayne we had to bounce before we got caught up

to some it all up around me hyphy was used to describe an out of control scene no holds barred...kinda like the riots after rodney king verdict but not exactly
