Siliconera is reporting that they have received details regarding the next installment in Capcom's zombie sandbox franchise, Dead Rising. Claiming an unnamed source, Siliconera states that the game will take place in a fictional California town called Los Perdidos, quarantined by the government following a zombie outbreak.
According to this source, players will take the role of an auto mechanic named Rick, who plans to restore a plane and escape by air before a bomb destroys what's left of the town. We're also told that Phenotrans is again at the center of events, with Dead Rising 2: Case West antagonist Marian Mallon returning to the series along with a new villain, General Hemlock.
Dead Rising 3 will reportedly feature themes relating to illegal immigration, with one group of infected survivors who have illegally kept their infection hidden from the US government. And, as you might expect, there will be people who lose their heads around the whole thing and have to be put down like rabid dogs.
It sounds plausible to me, even down to the cheese factor of calling your town full of doomed refugees, "The Lost." That's a Capcom move if I've ever seen one. We've asked Capcom for comment and we'll let you know if they get back to us on it.
