Dana said the UFC will make an announcement next thursday that will change the mma world forever. What do you think it will be? There are rumors that they might announce the singing of Floyd Mayweather to sign:

According to wrestlinghearld.com

"More on Mayweather-UFC; Dana White statement
Posted on 07 Jun 2008 by Mike Landau

Dana White, who is in England for today's UFC pay-per-view, spoke to Setanta Sports is being quoted as saying that UFC is 'due to have an all star caliber boxer make the jump to mma to help legitimize the sport'.

Also, pwinsider has since acknowledged that there are rumors of Mayweather signing.

This all seems to add up with our exclusive report from this morning about Mayweather being the big announcement on Thursday."

Other rumors i've heard are that Anderson Silva will move up to the light heavyweight division or that UFC has signed a deal with Fox TV. Either of these is good news!

^^^^what?!?!?!? why would silva move up 2 steps? last i heard he wanted to move up to welterweight cause theres more competition there. and i also heard that chuck's days are numbered and may not even fight again. i dunno i rarely look into this shit i just watch the fights but it wouldnt make sense for silva to skip the weltereight division.

Silva is a middleweight (185). welterweight is only 170lbs. so it would be one step up and it would work cuz silvas legs are hella skinny to he can put on some weight.

and chuck beat wandy in december. he still has some left in the tank. he would have fought today if he hadnt torn his hamstring.

I don't think anderson could make 205 dude is tall and thin as hell but I can't think of any top contenders @ 185 for him to fight in the ufc he has clean out his divison I can't blame him for moving up but on the other hand him & loyota machia teamsmates

I read somewhere that Anderson walks around at 205 between fights, wouldn't surprise me if he moved up even though he still hasn't really cleared out the division. Henderson still wants another fight and Damian Maia has shown he might have what it takes. I'd rather see Rich Franklin move up before Anderson.

What would Mayweather fight at, Lightweight?

I read an Interview with Anderson Silva and he said he'll probably be fighting Yushin Okami next, but nothing is signed yet. He's got a couple more tough fights left in the Middle weight divison. MIchael Bisping is making his way up the middleweight ladder.

Mayweather doesn't makes sense. He was fit to make $30-40 Million dollars fighting Oscar de la hoya in sept. Or if he went to the UFC he could be making 1-3 million at most, which would also be much more riskier since he's never trained.

If mayweather really is that stupid, I hope someone breaks his arm and the bone pops out on live TV.

I'd hope it's the FOX TV deal over anything. The people on network TV got a bad draw with the CBS/EliteXC card. It had good matchups that were exciting on paper but all the problems fucked it up. Plus a lot of people will tune in just because it's UFC.

Mayweather would get mopped up at lightweight, he's too small, BJ Penn walks around 175 between fights and cuts to 155, Mayweather is 155 soaking wet, the only division I see him fighting at is the 145lb division in WEC.
...where he would get crushed by faber. mayweather stands no chance with the top contenders.

I wouldn't count Mayweather out so quickly. The guy is fuckin quick, and I guarantee you if someone went for the takedown, he'd be faster than 90% of other fighters at slapping them aside. If he had even a decent guard, he'd run through a lot of fighters. He'd be the Cheick Kongo of the lightweight division--faster and stronger than most others in the division....talent and experience being the two things lacking.

I agree, floyd is an amazing athlete, his natural athleticism is better then anyone. I don't doubt he couldn't be a good fighter. I just doubt if this is really true or not, doesn't make much sense to me financially speaking.

Its hard to say yes mayweather is a superior athlete but he'll need at least 3 - 5 years of learning the trade of muay thai, jui jitsi, and wrestling. He could have the god given talent of boxing but ya gotta remember that you gotta be great at all practices not just average. Whats mayweather gonna do on his back? Or when he gets GNP'd he'll give up his back and that fool wit get put to sleep. Have we forgotten about Brock Lesner that was thrown in with a World Class Jits practitioner, and all the power in his punches couldnt get him out of an ankle lock....

It's hard to be great at everything. Most of the great MMA fighters are great in one discipline and very good at the rest. Who knows how Mayweather or any top level boxer will be able to handle himself in MMA if he actually trains. If he goes in there blind thinking boxing can get him through I could see it ending bad for him.

There hasn't been any great boxers in their prime that had attempted to make a transition into MMA yet and just like with every other fighting style it's all going to come down to the person making the transition. Jacare for example has shown decent stand up skills as of right now where Pe De Pano still throws punches like a 5 year old girl with bone cancer and they're both at the very top in BJJ.

Hopefully though Kermit Cintron makes the crossover because he at least has a decent wrestling background and has ridiculous power. Coming off two embarrasing loses to Margarito and sitting in a division where the fights don't get any easier he might be able to make the move. His explosive style, IMO is the best kind for MMA.
