I just had to get this shit off my chest....it's been fucking with me all week.
One of my friends was arrested for Murder Tuesday morning. Its some fucked up shit. I have know Matt for about 7 years now. We all used to hang out and party back in 97 & 98. Then he just got out of prison last summer and we have been hanging out in bars and drinking in Downtown Alton. He is a good friend w/my 2 good friends. They were with him and Rachel the night of the murder in Downtown Alton. I was gonna go down & meet them but ended up staying at home because I was tired as fuck. Homicide detectived have shown up at both my friends' house and they have contacted me by phone. Its just a fucked up situation. Here is the story below:
Parolee charged in woman’s slaying
SANFORD J. SCHMIDT , The Telegraph 03/03/2004
EDWARDSVILLE -- An Alton man released from prison last summer was charged Tuesday in the weekend stabbing death of a Wood River woman.
Charged with first-degree murder was Matthew A. Davis, 24, of the 3800 block of Horn Street in Alton, where the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis conducted a lengthy search Monday.
The charge claims Davis repeatedly stabbed Rachel L. Hayes, 21, with a knife. Her body was found in her home Sunday afternoon. Authorities say Davis was "an acquaintance" of the victim, but they were not more specific.
Hayes was found dead in her Wood River apartment by a friend who went there to pick her up for a shopping date.
"The attack was particularly brutal. It is a tragedy that a young mother had to lose her life in such a violent manner," Madison County State’s Attorney William Mudge said.
The Major Case Squad was called in shortly after the body was discovered. Lt. John Lakin, the deputy commander of the Major Case Squad, and Sgt. Otis Steward of the Wood River Police Department, filed the charge late Tuesday afternoon.
Mudge said Davis was being held in the Madison County Jail without bond.
According to the Illinois Department of Corrections Web site, Davis was paroled from prison in July after serving a sentence for driving under the influence and without a license. Apparently he had been staying with his father at the Horn Street address in recent days.
Davis has a criminal history dating to 1998, when he was placed on two years’ probation for felony theft. He has also been convicted of burglary, violation of probation and aggravated domestic battery. He was sentenced to probation on those charges.
In the July 2000 aggravated domestic battery case, he was accused of hitting a girlfriend, Kelly A. Hart, in the chest, breaking her sternum, according to an order of protection signed by the victim.
She told authorities that when she tried to leave, Davis kicked her, aggravating the injury.
The judge sentenced him to two years’ probation and treatment for drugs and alcohol abuse and "aggressive offender disorder."
Hart said in an interview that she was holding their child when Davis attacked her.
"He has a violent temper. He has done so much to me," she said, adding that she is grateful she did not come to the same end as Hayes.
After serving two years’ probation through the Madison County Drug Court, Davis was charged in January 2001 with home invasion. He was accused of entering Hart’s Roxana home and punching a man in the face.
That charge was later reduced to battery, and he was sentenced to 23 days time served in the Madison County Jail.
He was charged in July 2001 with a felony domestic battery on Hart. The charge was later reduced to a misdemeanor, and he was sentenced to 120 days time served in the Madison County Jail.
Mudge said members of the Major Case Squad and the Wood River Police Department have been working night and day on the Hayes killing since Sunday.
"The collaborative and professional manner in which the Wood River Police Department and the Major Case Squad investigated this case was simply outstanding, and it is to their credit that the suspect is already behind bars," Mudge said.

Matt was a fucking super cool guy.....funny as hell. You would never think something like that. I hate to see this shit. I know you are innocent until proven guilty but they have enough evidence, they found the bloody clothes @ his house and tracked his cell phone & hers. And now he is also being investigated for another Murder that happened 6-8 months back. Its just fucked up.
I am going to pray for both families.
