Daaaaamn, that's a good fucking review. I'm glad to see the reviewer really get it, really understand what the album's about, instead of just dismissing it as "gangsta rap" the way a lot of so-called "hip hop heads" would. Jacka does take it a step further than most with that album, he really puts out some heartfelt shit, and it's dope to see him get props from somebody who's not from the bay or a regular fan of bay rap.
Much props to Jacka doin his thing, but I dunno. When that album dropped, I gave it a couple listens and wasn't really feelin it. Maybe I'll give it a few more listens and see if it grows on me, but it aint really my style I guess. It's definitely an album that appeals to a wider audience I guess, sounds like some straight Eastcoast shit to me. Stlil, much props to the Jack artist.
I dunno why I wasn't feelin The Jack Artist the first time I listened to it straight through... but after a couple more spins, I realized that this shit is definitely one of the hottest albums I had ever bought. It was a cool little change-up from the first Jacka album. Both of Jacka's solo's have been great albums IMO.
Yeah they guy who did the review wrote me today and letting me know how much he felt the album. That says a lot from where it came from. Big up to djcomplejo, he took the time to respond on how good of an album THE JACK ARTIST was.
