i thought thas this release was a tape only release. Then 1-2 years ago calstate came up with the cd version of this album. That always seems strange to me and I dont believe that the cd press is a official release from 1995.

Tape only

It's a tape only release. That's a repress that was put out by calstate in late '09. I believe that this has already been discussed back in '09. Heck you can find this same repress all over the Japanese websites, because calestate sells to them. They're going for about $50 on the Japanese sites. He sold them that Bink repress and all sorts of represses.

Not the point.

That's not my point. The point is that it wasn't pressed on to CD until '09. Whether anybody considers it fake or not...that is on them/the buyer. I can't answer a view point that is yours. To me it is, but hey, I'm not trippin. My point is that it isn't the original, it's not rare, the artwork isn't correct (because it never said DPH on it) and nobody should be sweating it, because you can find it all over those Japanese websites along with the rest of these titles that Calstate continuously presses up at will. If you want the real thing, then you need to know that the CD isn't the real deal Holifield...the tape is.

Heck, I wouldn't mind a copy of it, but I'm not paying more than $10 for it and I'm definitely not sweating, because I have the real tape only release. To each his own. It is what it is.

That d.p.h. cd always comes up on EBAY along with MANIAC from sacramento....Is that a tape release only to ?
Yeap, like a lot of stuff calstate sold, it's probably the FIRST ever issue of it, ie G-Side - Maniac, Ice Water - Dead Soldier, Straight Game - Gotta Get Paid, H-Wood's 2 cds, Young Bread...

but.... It's just old resurrected studio sessions from the 90's.

That Maniac title you're talking about is by G-Side, one of Dre-D's homies. That never came out in the 90's.

then there's Ultimate Sounds, DPH Street Stories, 2 Black Basstuds, SMG.. all previously avail. on tape only.

I'm waitin to see if he cd presses The Slumpulation or reissues Raw Deal.. Prolly round the corner.

I have it on good authority that some of the artists didn't even know Calstate had gone and done this. Still though, classic cuts and If you can get it for around retail it's well worth a listen. Shame about the proceeds not goin to the artists though..

What's really cheeky about that D.P.H. though, is that not all the beats are Bumpin T.. There's 4 or so Mike D from C.O.P.S. beats in there.

I will have to peep that , never really listened to it , but don't feel like dropping 30 or 40 unless it will hold some value over time which I doubt it will.
