EL PASO, Texas —
A man upset with his service allegedly brandished a knifeat the Hamburger Inn in the Lower Valley early Thursday morning.
Workers at the Hamburger Inn say a customer pulled out a knife because he wasn't happy with his meal. The cook, who does not want to be named, said a man who regulary comes in at nights ordered a steak hamburger and threw it back at him, after it wasn't served how he ordered it.
"He didn't want toasted bread, he wanted french bread," said the Hamburger Inn cook.
The cook'sfirst reaction was to hit the man back. "I actually hit him," he said. "It was basic instinct. I just hit him in his month."
Things then escalated. Witnesses say the customer, who appeared to be intoxicated, pulled out a knife. Servers say the man's girlfriend pulled him out of the restaurant once workers said they were calling police.
Police searched the area but did not find the suspect.
