the worst is the shit where you have to talk to an automated system, they can never understand what the fuck you're saying. then you finally get through and talk to someone in India who barely speaks English

I don't press anything.
Rotary phones send pulse instead of a tone that cannot be recognized by PBX or IP-PBX systems. So if you do nothing for a couple minutes it will send you through. Sometimes it's just the operator of the company who then again has to redirect you to the correct person, but at least you get a human on the line within a couple of minutes.
