Culpepper still the starting quarterback
Raiders coach Lane Kiffin named Daunte Culpepper his starting quarterback on Monday for Sunday's AFC West showdown at San Diego.
As Kiffin made the announcement, former starter Josh McCown could be seen laboring across the field on his broken left big toe. McCown hasn't practiced in two weeks and does not look any closer to getting back on the field.
Culpepper was surprised when reporters asked about his starting status in the locker room. Turns out Kiffin hadn't told him yet.
"He didn't tell me that," Culpepper said. "I won't prepare any differently. I'll prepare the same no matter what."
Culpepper played in both of Oakland's victories and was named the AFC offensive player of the week after beating Miami 35-17.
In other practice news:
Running back LaMont Jordan (back) is still not practicing but he hasn't been ruled out for Sunday's game.
Returning to full practice were defensive end Derrick Burgess (calf) and special teams starters Ike Ekejiuba (foot), Robert Thomas (hamstring) and Oren O'Neal (hamstring).
Coo....but I wonder if its just cuz McCown is still hurt.....I hope its because Kiffen just made the choice to have Dante start the rest of the games
