Josh McCown has figured out Andrew Walter's plan to play this season.
"Hit (Daunte Culpepper's) quad, off (McCown's) pinky, right into JaMarcus (Russell's) eye," McCown said with a laugh as he sat at his locker.
Russell's eye is the only body part in that scenario without a known condition. Starting quarterback Culpepper was limited in practice Thursday because of a sore right quadriceps.
McCown practiced after having stitches put in his left (non-throwing) little finger after dislocating it Wednesday and having the bone pop through his skin. McCown's stitches came courtesy of catching a lob pass from Walter, the fourth quarterback, and jamming his finger.
"Best ball I've ever thrown," Walter said sarcastically. "Best ball ever."
Culpepper said his leg was sore Wednesday but became worse that night. He and coach Lane Kiffin expect him to play Sunday against Denver.
"I don't need to push it," Culpepper said. "If I'm having some pain and some soreness, try to take some time off and heal it up."
Kiffin still has not announced if McCown or Russell will back up Culpepper. Both took snaps with the first-team offense with Culpepper limited in practice.
Injury updates – Culpepper was the only Raider limited in practice Thursday.
Starting defensive end Derrick Burgess (Achilles') and linebacker and special-teams player Isaiah Ekejiuba (ankle) completed practice after being limited Wednesday.
Starting free safety Stuart Schweigert (calf) and backup center Jake Grove (knee) practiced for a second day in a row without limitation.
No Hogs for Lane – Kiffin, for a second day, addressed rumors surrounding his interest in the University of Arkansas head-coaching job.
When asked if he wasn't interested in the job, Kiffin said, "Yeah," his most definitive statement on the situation. He added it wasn't a distraction.
No blackout – Sunday's game against Denver is sold out and will be televised locally on Channel 13 (KOVR).
