CRIMESEEN was discovered in ANT D.O.G.’s apartment one day in 1998 while sittin around listening to the track ’EASY DAY’ which apeared on Ray Luv’s album ’COUP DE’ TA back in 98’. We thought that shit is cool lets make a band and an album! The first incarnation of what is now CRIMESEEN included Tim Soya on drums, Clee on gee-tar, Eric Lee bass guitar,DJ DISC on the tables, Triple X, Ray Luv, ANT D.O.G., and Mac Mall all on vocals. (Maybe ya’ll get to hear some of thise tracks one day?) We played our first show at the Phoenix Theater in Petaluma CA. back in 2000 or something, the show included CRIMESEEN, Bombsquad and our good friends Stomach. That show sold out 1300 tickets and was a blast! CRIMESEEN’s first album took so long to come out due to typical drama amongst band members. First off drummer Tim Soya couldn’t continue playing drums for the project due to too many other obligatios, so he was replaced with long time CRIMESEEN drummer Frank. Then about a year later bass player Eric Lee dropped out of the band due to frutration with the progress of the band. After that CRIMESEEN was on a sabatocle for about a year. Finally in 2002 CRIMESEEN got back together adding long time rap conisier and producer Aaron Abel as bass guitar. CRIMESEEN struggled for another year writting new material and getting things together. We went ahead and played a number of shows all over the Bay Area and started recording at Grizzly Studios in Petaluma Ca., with producer engineer Roger Tschann. All recording then came to a stop when we were offered a production deal with STUDIO D in Sausalito Ca., big time recording $1000 a day! Big waste of time, after a year of being dicked around by STUDIO D we shelved the project after the producer slaughtered our sound and refused to meet the needs of the band, so now its 2005 and we were back at Grizzly finishing what we started in 2003! After the deathh of the honorable MAC DRE, Mac Mall sighned CRIMESEEN to THIZZ and our record was finally out July 2006! CRIMESEEN’s freshman album ’POPULATION CONTROL’ came out and we were back in the clubs tearing shit up with bands like INSOLENCE, HOSTILITY, MUDFACE, SPIKE 1000, DIGITAL UNDERGROUND, all the THIZZ artists at HYPHY 9 & 10, many festavils etc. Oh, did I forget that we won a California Music Award in 2005 for Best Emerging Artist, that was cool. Any way now it is 2008 and we basically took another year off due to band drama and once again the band members are still changing! Ray Luv is the only official vocalist left in the band even though we are welcoming our friends to get a verse, Clee is still on guitar, Aaron has switched from bass to 2nd guitar and we have our original bassist Eric Lee back, and we now have a new drummer Jason Brentwood (Stomach, P.R.C., Lung Butter) who took over the skins in later 2007, addind a more aggressive hardcore style to our sound! Which brings us to now 2008, CRIMESEEN is back to the drawing board writting new material for our sophmore release which should be coming out in the summer of 2008 at which time we will be back out there rippin up The Bay and supporting the new record! So thanks to everybody who has stuck wih this project and remember our first record ’POPULATION CONTROL’ is still out there in the stores and online, so check it out!!! ONE LOVE, CRIMESEEN.
