i am a huge mac dre fan and i am finally ready to admit that his quality has been on the decline. ever since rapper gone bad - his music has headed that way - BAD. and i am hella disappointed. i hope al boo boo will make a convert out of me once again though.

suga wolf has been on the same road since aka sugawolf. do u all think he has it within himself to do a album that good again? or should we credit khyree with that album and its prosperity.

khyree isno longer a factor any more. all he has been doing is rereleaseing old shit and remixes. Hardly enough to satisfy what i want to hear from him.

undadogg fell off - too much recycling. his comp the best of the millenium was heat a couple years ago. i just bought best of the milenium 2 and it is a big disappointment. his beats are lackin.

PSD is the only bright spot in the crest. He continues to improve with every album. support this cat! his last 2 releases have been fire.

i was feeling the cutthroat committe. another bright spot.

mac dre should stop making rompalations. the last 2 ones are embarrasments to the origional.

Well, the problem I have with Mac Dre's recent stuff is not that it's all that wack per se, it's the SOUND and the ENGINEERING. His stuff is still entertaining and funny (which counts for something), but the buzzing, excessively humming bass sound that was in some of the THIZELLE WASHINGTON songs was very distracting. Maybe he's too high to know what he's putting out.

I agree with the point about Da Unda Dogg--too much recycling(although I did like his appearance on "Always Into Somethin'" from IT'S NOT WHAT YOU SAY...).

I agree with your point about Khayree--the compilations are historically valuable, but I'd like to hear new shit...

Dubee can still do it lyrically when he wants to, but he needs better production...

I, too, liked the CUTTHOAT COMMITTEE CD (and I thought I was the only one).

PSD never comes wack, but I also thought Mac Mall's CD from last year was cool (MACKIN SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS). Mac Jesus can still do it too, IMHO.

PEACE!

I THOUGHT THIZZLE WASHINGTON WAS HELLA TIGHT. FUCKIN THIZZLE DANCE BEAT IS HELLA SICC. MAC DRE IS STILL DOIN' IT & WILL CONTINUE HIS LEGACY. DUBEE STILL FLOWS SICC, AND PSD IS THE UP & COMING STAR. REEK DADDY NEEDS TO GET MORE INVOLED WITH THE CCC. HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN PSD'S SHIT AND THIZZLE WASHINGTON. JUST REMEBER THAT MAC DRE IS THE GODFATHER OF THE CREST. JUST A PIECE OF MY MIND.

Thank you for posting this Humbolt High. I cant agree more with almost every point you made, especially with Mac Dre. I've been saying for years now he's been on the decline since Stupid Doo Doo Dumb, but people on the board dont want to admit it (kinda like when Mr. Doc released Bombay and everyone was tryin to say it was hard cause Doc was their fav. artist lol).

On another note the thing the crest seems to be lacking right now is beats. Im really not feelin any of the beats on the last Dubee album, Wreak Daddy's were lacking, Dre's were lacking PSD got a handful of tight beats...the only artist to consistently release tight albums with up to date production IMO is Mac Mall.

I think what really needs to happen is Mac Dre and Mac Mall need to get back together, Dre needs to call it cool with Khayree, and then Cutthoat Committee, PSD, Mac Dre and Mac Mall can get on beats from Femi and Khayree...thats a dream though...

I can understand why everyone would want the old Young Black Brotha crew back like it was before, but really there's probably a good reason Khayree hasn't been producing much lately. He's probably not that good anymore. But I think thats the problem with Mac Dre, he hasn't updated his sound at all. His lyrics always have been and always be tight, but he always seems to work with producers who sound like there stuck in 93.

khayree is producing... he's just working on different projects. Someone broke into his studio and stole everything, but he said things are cracking again. But he is still producing and he is still making dope beats. His style is still changing (and for the better).

I was just gonna say that about that Dubee.........Khayree still got MAJOR heat, just peep "Feelin Like That Nigga" (which is recycled verses from two other songs, "Fonky Situation" & I forgot the other, but sounds like an entire new song) & tell me him & Dre don´t belong making music together, sadly it wont happen though............

IMO

Dre, Mall, PSD, Dubee,Coolio,Reek,Miami, Young Lay and the rest of the crestside.- All Classic!!
but the on going theme is the production.

What they need to do is start spending money on technical detail, beats, producers, and writers.

Suggestions for producers:
K-lou (very talented)
Johnny Z (always on point)
Bosko (tight as fuck and uses the talkbox)
First Degree the DE (It would be very interesting)
Sean T, Big Hollis, Nick Peace (All would be good change of pace)
Studio Ton (Classic)
Mike Mosley (tight)
LA Possibilities:
DJ Quik
Battlecat
Daz Dillinger
Warren G
Fred Wreck

What needs to happen to put out an all out heated album (solo or group) is to take advantage of who you know and fuckin network. If they haven't worked with the producers themselves chances are they have worked with the artist that have done. So lets take advantage and go to work cause you can just smell the potential of a classic album. IMO

Mac Dre has worked with nick peace on green eyes and hells kitchen and i think the rydah j. klyde beats are sicc. i dont know if all of you heard that but its thizz's latest release. its tight. i think nothin will ever be as good as the old days with them but mac dre and dubee still have that fun oarty feel to their music and mac dre comes sicc on other peoples cd's and i still like his cd's.
