anybody know of any good links that covers this...in general. Regardless of the synth used?
Do not quote me on this but many synths you can not start from scratch Alot will allow you too edit patches. Example..I have a Yamaha Tx81z ( basically a dx100 rack) so it has 4 operators...so you can pick which kind of wave for each operator in any combinations and so many parameters can be adjusted..

I think it depends on what type of sound your after also. I mean there's a lot of different synthesis methods like subtractive, additive, FM, physical modeling, and a few others. Certain methods would be better for certain sounds. For example, looking to create more of a realistic acoustic type sound like a guitar, then physical modeling synthesis would be the best option. Looking for more of a deep bass or leads, pads, strings, then most likely subtractive. Looking more for piano/e-piano, bells n metallic sounding shit like, then probably FM synthesis or physical. The easiest to learn and most popular I would say is subtractive. As far as what waveforms n shit like that sound best to make up certain sounds, I truely don't know, that's beyond me. I personally just edit pre-existing patches that sound similiar to the sound I'm after and go from there. Alls I really know is you can make some pretty deep sounding shit with sine waves (usually sub basses and kicks), then you want some extra buzz, use some sawtooth.

Yeah...I noticed that something is there...not absolute zero. I just want to know shit like the making of a kick drum , what type of wave to start with , is it a combination of more than one type of wave, Snares, Basses etc. I think editing parameters of close enough patch is what I'll stick to for now.

Thanks for the links!
