Compliments of Gene "The Dex" Dexter @ Crazy Pinoy......
I don't know if its Alan Greenspan's thumbs up on the U.S. economic picture or this early westcoast summer weather but urban product has suddenly gotten out of control. It seems just this week we've been speaking with everybody about their promotions plans! From Hollywood to the Northwest summer is crackin' open,,,,,,
Harrison Ford goes after the music Industry in the motion picture "Hollywood Homicide" (opens nationwide at theaters on June 13th) and tries to figure everything out just like the rest of us. (It should be fun watching Indiana Jones take on west coast rap!) C Bo's West Coast Mafia Records blazes up his new deal over at Navarre with three back to back releases, starting with Seattle's own 151 and the WestSide Ryders compilation, June 10th. His own project drops July 22nd,,,,,Dentists everywhere are very excited about this new Sweet Tart Gummy Bug and in Seattle more chairs will be added after this promotion! VitalToys.com laces their membership with the phatty giveaways, find out what all the hype over Snoopa Fly is on their site....
And it's been a little phone tag with Rap A Lot and Bad Boy Records, let's see what's on their plate soon,,,,,
In Northwest news we have been hearing lovely new material. It appears Eastside Records just keeps getting better with each release, particularly track 5 on Todd G's project. All lights are coming from Portland, keep an eye out for this steet label with a big future! And on the subject of street, Seattlle's own Street Level Records wastes no time dropping three albums at once! Check out Skuntdunanna, SarKastik and Dividenz (feat. Cool Nutz, Byrdie and Francci) available online or on CD.
I can't think of a better opening night for a club than having NocOnWood.com, WestCoastMafiaRecords.com, Maraire.com, Sea-Sick Records/Graphix, Hiphop101 TV and the Crazy Pinoys together on June 15th! Mr. Lucky (across street from Key Arena, Seattle) will be the hottest shop on the block and you will just have to be there. 151 record release party with special guests Killa Tay AND C Bo, Boy 1 Der's record release party with special guest Mister Cinatra and the T. Wood Jr. birthday Toast with special guests MadRo and Nocturnal Rage all under one fired up roof! Use the valet service or JetBlue.com mane, just do it! Guestlists available. Sundays won't be the same. And for that tru skool b boy vibe never forget Chop Suey, DV One and Scene are still killin' it on Capitol Hill, Sundays.
Well, we have to cut the column a little short this month. It appears Russell and Kimora Simmons are in need of some Crazy Pinoy style transportation and we gotta get ready for two days of their market visit. Big names require big cars! Be sure to stop by the caravan and say hello at their Southcenter mall appearance or at Club Rock Salt on Lake Union, hosted by Prolific Records.
The Wing Luke Museum (407 7th Ave.) is the place to be this July for their "Hip-Hop Exhibit" focusing on the greater Seattle hip-hop scene through the years.
