For the first time in the 15-year history of the ESPYs, mixed martial artists are included in the Best Fighter (formerly Best Boxer) category. UFC champions Randy Couture (Pictures) and Quinton Jackson (Pictures) have been nominated alongside boxers Miguel Cotto, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquaio.

Winners are determined by fans, who have from June 25 through July 7 to vote at www.espys.tv.

None of the five athletes nominated for Best Fighter made the list for Best Male Athlete, which this year includes Roger Federer, LeBron James, Peyton Manning, LaDainian Tomlinson and Tiger Woods.

The ESPYs will be taped on Wed., July 11, and televised on ESPN July 15 at 9 p.m. ET.

^ He's not an athelete in that same sense...but he is an athelete nonetheless. Golf takes different kinds of physical skills. Try it out, its not as easy as it looks.

Also, if a pitcher in baseball is an athelete, than I don't see why a golfer isn't.

I've played, I'm not saying that it's easy at all. I just associate being an athlete with being athletic, which most golfers are not.
