As we do this tour, I will updating all of you of what is happening on the road. Here is updates from the first part of the tour as we have begun.
Thurs. March 20th
The Lyricist Lounge feat. Big Daddy Kane, Killah Priest, Bazaar Royale, Cool Nutz, Thorn City Improv, and DJ Spark
Portland, Ore
Berbati's Pan
This show was dope. The only problem was that they were protesting the WAR right around the corner, so there were about 200 police in the street with full riot gear on, and that greatly effected the draw of the show. DJ Spark opened the show with vintage hip-hop set. Up next was the Thorn City Improv which is live band the Chosen, and features MC's Destro, Anaxogorus, Smoke, and a couple of others from Ol Dominion. The set was hot, especially the fact that all of the set is freestyle. Up next was Cool Nutz, and you know that I put it down. The set featured some new material from I Hate Cool Nutz. Up next was DMX's artists Bazaar Royale(Bloodline Records). He has a mix of Rock and Hip-Hop, and his set was filled with energy. I didn't get a chance to catch Killah Priest and Kane, being that I had to head out to Mammoth Lakes, CA.
Fri. March 21st & 22nd
Potluck & Cool Nutz w/ DJ Baby J
La Sierra's
Mammoth Lakes, CA
This show was in the ski community of Mammoth Lakes, CA. It was dope to be up in the mountains and be doing hip-hop. Baby J started the set off with hip-hop classics, and then Potluck hit the stage for a hot set. It was dope to have over 200 people in attendance for hip-hop on the mountain.
Sat. March 22nd
The show continued this night with Baby J opening the night with a hot set on the 12's. Then I hit the stage, and dropped a couple of bombs on the people with classics like 76 Nova and Freq. The people were feeling it. Up next was Potluck who rocked the stage again. The only problem was that we almost got into a fight with some cats over the table that we were going to use for merch, which we had set up 3 hours before the show started. We got it worked out though, and kicked it with the fellows like big players. It was dope to be on the mountain, and the setting was dope.
Sun. March 23rd
Potluck, Cool Nutz, LT The Friendly Traveller, and Guests
Blakes
Berkley, CA
This was in the University district of Berkley, and the club was dope. It was in the basement of a fly eating spot, and it was very underground. The night was opened up by a crewed called Tyrant I think, and they went off the turntables and featured a guy on the trumpet, which was rather unique. They were on some freestyle vibe. Up next was Myself, I did 3 songs, and the crowd was feeling it. This was a show where the people were actually listening to the Lyrics. Up next was Potluck, and they rocked the house with 1 Ton, Baby J, and James Boy on the vocals. The set was high energy. Up next was LT & The Friendly Traveller. They had a very hot set, and were on a real underground hip-hop vibe. But it was dope. The highlight of the evening was standing outside the club, and watch a cat get jumped by 4 cats for snitching on one of them. They beat him under my car, and then chased him across the street from the club, and beat him in the middle of the street. Unfortunately my camera was in the car so I couldn't film it for the Jus Family documentary.
Monday March 24th
Promo Work in The Bay
This day I was off, so I took time to hit up some record stores. I hit Rasputin's in San Lorenzo, Moses Music(Oakland), Durant Square(Oakland), and Rasputins in Berkley. All of these stores were familiar with my music, and all of the Rasputins had product. The Berkley store was sold out of Cool Nutz. That was a good thing. I also met with Frank and Will from Showcase Magazine, and we talked about how we were going to push E-40 Presents "I Hate Cool Nutz". This was a fruitful day, and it was cool to hit some of these stores, and get the word out.
Today is Tuesday March 25th, and we have a show in SF at the Last Days Saloon. I will keep you posted. I am also meeting with 40 today, to discuss the album, and the plan of attack. Be on the lookout. I will be updating this tomorrow or the next day. For all tour dates, log onto JusFamilyRecords.com or Pollstar.com. Holler at a playa.
